Yesterday, I did an oil change on my 2014 Mazda3 Sedan for the first time ever.
- 28ft-lbs torque on the oil drain plug. I believe the scale is 23-30ft-lbs.
- 17mm socket for the oil drain plug
- 8mm socket or a Philip’s #2 screwdriver for access the drain pan and oil filter. x 2
- 2 push clips for access to the drain pan and oil filter x 2
- Some oil on the shield that was removed. Cleaned and reinstalled. Possible leak
- Ordered some new gaskets for the oil drain plug. Not really sure how they work, but mine seemed OK to me.
- No leaks detected after reassembly
- A little on the low side of oil. Was afraid to top off too high.
- 4.4 US quarts oil pan capacity with filter. I assume this means priming the new oil filter first by adding oil into it
- Use finger to apply new oil around the rubber gasket from new oil filter
